“New Era, New Technology, and Working Together!”
Newly appointed LRIW President, Araceli Martinez welcomed everyone and outlined the work plan for this new board. LRIW was founded 12 years ago, during which conferences have been held in various locations with each drawing primarily local attendees. As a result, we’ve realized we lack representation from many railroads and members from economically challenged countries have not been supported during past conferences because of monetary shortages. Now we recognize that we are in a New Era, we need to create new strategies and use new technology to achieve our goals. The LRIW’s Work Plan includes:
• Holding educational seminars and workshops in many different geographic locations
• Scheduling more workshops at more advantageous locations and dates
• Using communication technology like web casting to multiply the number of beneficiaries
